What a lookup can and cannot tell you
Please read this before trusting any serial-number check — including ours.
It can tell you
- Whether Apple's coverage data recognises the serial number, and the model it belongs to.
- The warranty or AppleCare status and expiry date returned for that serial.
- How many times, from how many cities and countries, the same serial was checked on SpotAirPods.
It cannot tell you
- That your product is genuine. Counterfeiters copy real serial numbers from genuine boxes.
- That a product is fake just because we have no record. New or rarely checked serials simply have no history yet.
- Anything Apple has confirmed. SpotAirPods is independent and is not an Apple service.
Combine the result with the purchase channel, packaging, build quality, pairing behaviour and Apple's own Check Coverage page.
How it works
- 1
Enter the serial
Type the code from the case lid or box. We never ask for your name or Apple ID.
- 2
We check coverage
Known serials are answered from our records instantly; new ones are fetched from coverage data.
- 3
Compare the history
A genuine serial is usually checked a few times. Hundreds of checks from many cities is a warning sign.
Frequently asked questions
Does a valid result mean my AirPods are genuine?
No. It only means the serial number exists in Apple's coverage data. Fake AirPods often carry a real serial copied from a genuine product, which is why we also show how often the serial has been checked.
SpotAirPods has no record of my serial. Is it fake?
Not necessarily. We only hold serials that someone has already looked up here. Run a lookup to fetch the coverage data, or check Apple's official Check Coverage page.
What does the copy-risk level mean?
Levels 1–5 summarise how widely a serial has been looked up (count, cities, countries) and any manual reviews. Higher levels mean the serial is more likely printed on several products. It is a signal, not a verdict.
Is SpotAirPods an Apple website?
No. SpotAirPods is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Apple Inc.
What data do you keep when I run a lookup?
The serial, product type, IP address, approximate city, device information and time of the lookup. See the Privacy Policy for retention periods, who can access the data and how to request deletion.
Can I use the data in my own tool or AI assistant?
Yes. A read-only public API returns the summary for serials already on record. See /llms.txt and /openapi.json.
